The mind-set of the performing arts college graduate must be one of self-motivation, commitment and determination to succeed. Depending on your personal level of ambition, you will need to remain focused when first beginning to apply for jobs. You will also need to maintain a positive attitude and be mature enough to initially handle a certain amount rejection. You must be so enamored with the career you have chosen that you even begin to see the auditioning process as an enjoyable learning experience. Every audition will teach you something new about the ways you need to develop further as a person or as a performer, and as a St. Claire graduate, you will already be committed to a life-long desire to perfect and hone your crafts.
Performing arts school graduates around the world have enjoyed careers in stage musicals, in television and even in the popular music business, while others have pursued further study and embarked on teaching careers, utilizing their knowledge and their passion for the performing arts to enthuse and motivate others.

Performing arts school graduates who are gifted, hard-working and determined may work in major theatres and further their careers in ways many performers can only dream of...and in such cases; the sky’s the limit...

However, an equally fulfilling and well-rounded career can see graduates easily obtaining roles in production shows or as solo artists on cruise ships or in dinner theatres. There are also opportunities to work in repertory companies touring your own locale or based in a small, local but well-loved theatre.

Being an all-rounder will always give you more choices and possibilities, and another possibility, of course, is focusing on your acting career for a while, seeking stage, radio or film work or exploring the potential for becoming a voice-over artist or session-singer. Despite appearances, reality TV is beginning to decrease in popularity and those who have taken the time to study the craft of acting will soon be in greater demand than ever.

If teaching fascinates you, there is also the possibility of working on summer camps running drama workshops for young people and if you are drawn towards further study, theatre directors with actor’s training have a rare insight into the sensibilities of the actors they work with. In rare cases where graduates opt for employment in theatre administration or at the box office, their knowledge and passion for the performing arts are seen as an asset. A range of positions also exist in theme parks and at a variety of tourist attractions.
